For easy adjustment and to reduce the space between the gate and the post try using the adjustable hinge mount with 8 pin with the heavy duty single strap hinges.
In the pictures shown here theres a 1 thick filler block behind the strap so that the gate is flush with the post.
If filler block is not used then the gate will be 1 proud of the gate post.
